FOUNDATION FOR WORKFORCE MOBILITY

& NORTHEAST OHIO RELOCATION ROUNDTABLE

SCHOLARSHIP

The Worldwide ERCĀ® Foundation for Workforce Mobility was established in 2004 with a mission to energize the global community through charitable giving. Its vision is that all communities touched by global mobility are actively aware of, inspired by and engaged in our charitable efforts, worldwide.

The Foundation works in cooperation with our regional relocation councils to support a student scholarship program for graduating students who have been relocated during their high school years. At least two students will be selected for a regional scholarship awarded by The Northeast Ohio Relocation Roundtable and will be automatically entered into the WERC Foundation for Workforce Mobility scholarship pool. As a result, there is an opportunity to be awarded funds from both NEORR and the WERC Foundation. The minimum regional award is $500.

Interested students must complete the following application and submit one of the following.

Option 1 - Essay

-       Submit an essay of not less than 1,000 words (in Word or pdf format, addressing the student’s challenges and experiences encountered while relocating to a new home and new high school as well as any successes achieved. It should include the student’s personal story and lessons learned as a result of the transition. It is recommended, but not required, that the essay contain any advice the student applicant would give to another preparing to relocate.

Option 2 - video

-       Submit a 5-minute video addressing the student’s challenges and experiences encountered while relocating to a new home and new high school, as well as any successes achieved. It should include the student’s personal story and lessons learned as a result of the transition. It is recommended, but not required, that the video contain any advice the student applicant would give to another preparing to relocate.

Eligibility Requirements:

-       Student is a high school senior or undergraduate currently attending college in good standing (the signature of a school official is required

-       Provide at least one (1) letter of recommendation from an instructor, coach or mentor

-       Provide the most recent SAT and/or ACT scores

-       GPA of 2.5 or better on a scale of 4.0 

-       Provide a list of extracurricular activities.

 

Must meet one of the following requirements.

-       The student has relocated to a new area not less than 50 miles away and has changed high schools once in the past four years.

-       Student has moved due to refugee or asylum-seeking conditions, moved/will be moving for the first time from home to new school/college housing (may also consider students who are studying in an exchange program, attending an ex-pat school provided payment is allowable.)

Submissions received after the close of business on May 15th, 2025 will not be considered. 

Students will be selected based on academic performance, recommendation(s) from instructor(s), coach(es) or mentor(s) of such applicant or any others who have knowledge of the applicant’s capabilities, the applicant’s motivation, character, ability, or potential, and plans to pursue post-secondary education.
